CAP and JMPD Raid on River Banks

CAP and JMPD Raid on River Banks

Yesterday (7 June) saw the culmination of a joint operation between CAP‘s Special Operations Team, the JMPD and the City of Joburg, to enforce bylaws and curb incidents of crime in the Bryanston Riverclub operational zone.

During the operation, multiple illegal dwellings were dismantled and one suspect was handed over to SAPS on suspicion of being in possession of stolen property.

We would like to thank all the officials from JMPD, SAPS and the City of Johannesburg, as well as our special operations team for their commitment to maintaining law and order.

  1. This is a marvellous effort by all involved – and a big thank you to the team.
Its just a pity that the team members don’t have more powers – being somewhat constrained by the law as to how far the JMPD and CAP can go to ensure the squatters stay away.
And of course the deserted properties in Summit Road and that back onto the East River Road West Spruit don’t help the cause. Plus the heavy foliage on the Spruit’s banks that helps to mask the squatter’s existence.
