Maintenance of the River resumes with the summer rains

As we’ve done for almost the last decade, the cutting of the river banks of the Braamfontein Spruit between Ballyclare Bridge and Bryanston Drive bridge resumes with the wet season. Depending on rains, the grass sometimes get cut once a month from November to May.

The BRCF has adopted the Eastern side of the Braamfontein for the stretch mentioned above and employes a specialist contractor who has all the required approvals to perform work in the City Parks area adopted. City parks does not have the resources / funds to cut the river area more than once a year at most, and hence the need for us to maintain it.

Thank you to the residents of the BRCF area who fund this via CAP public space contributions.

For Summer 2019/2020 we will be cutting and raking all the sections like the image above.

The process is a little slower than normal, but we are cutting twice and raking to ensure we get a nice even finish.
